Overall, this series was very good, and for me, this was not a waste of my time to watch, but instead a good use of my time.

This is a really good show, and series 4 lives up to all of the other three series, and the Christmas special. However, this series was not exactly a classic crime-solving series like all of the others were. On the other hand, this series tied up a lot of loose ends that dealt with Sherlock's past and many of the internal conflicts that affected multiple major characters in the show.

Season 4 is the balance the writers have been leading up to all along. If you can't handle the mysteries of the mind and heart, don't watch a romance ;-)!

Season 4 is a messy soap opera and should be skipped.
